On the first day of my sophomore year, I had no idea what to expect from digital photography. I knew that we would have an online blog and that we would be taking cameras home, but I had no idea that we would be using photoshop and going to the football field during class. My first composition photo was, let's just say, not my best work. After getting the hang of things, it soon became easier to take photos without completely relying on the notes that we had taken in class. My worst photo outside: My best photo outside: After about two or three weeks, I became more comfortable with asking questions, and we were introduced to photoshop. At the beginning, I had completely no idea what I was doing. I would be sitting in my chair clicking random buttons until I eventually hit the right one. There were many times that I questioned myself, but i've made it this far. On my first photo assignment, I chose to take pictures of my dog Ria. I learned that taking fifty photos of a certain subject was harder then I had planned. It takes hard work and some preparation, but afterwards, you have an awesome image you can have for the rest of your life. My worst photoshop assignment: My best photo assignment: Looking back at all of the photos I have taken, whether it be my dog or my best friend, I have learned that you are not going to get the exact photo you want on your first try. Many times my family and I laughed at the photos that were on the camera. Some were of me falling over onto the grass as the camera was taking a picture, and others were images of me trying to use the camera in manual mode. This took me awhile, and I still don’t completely understand it. I have learned so much, and will definitely invest in some cameras later in my life, to capture as many memories I have over this trimester.

In the Puns assignment, we had to find three visual puns that we could make in photoshop. After we did this we placed them all into one document, and then turned them in. For the dictionary one, we had to find two words that we could describe with images and fun background colors. After doin this, we combined it into a complete document, and turned it in. In this assignment, I learned how to make the backgrounds different colors, and how to blend images better.
In this assignment, we had to take 40 - 50 images about a certain subject. This week, I hose to do light painting. After we had our pictures, we would edit them until they were the best they could be, and then we had to place the best one into the blog with five others as our "runner up's." Here is the best photo: (I edited the background to make it solid black) Here are the next five best photos: After completing this assignment, I learned that you have to use a tripod because holding the camera still for ten seconds without moving is really hard. Also, I learned that with light painting, you have to have the subject stay still for the whole solid 10 seconds. Overall, this was a fun assignment, and I really like having an assignment each week which we can choose what to take pictures of.
In this assignment, we had to take one photo of a person in the hornet hub, with the set up equipment, and then another photo with natural lighting. I took the natural in the stairwell by the windows, and used a bounce card to lighten up the other side of the face. Here are the two original photos, and then the fished product: After completing this, I learned that taking portrait photos takes a lot of time and patience, but afterward the outcome is very good. I think this was really fun, and I might do portrait photos as one of my Photo assignments.
In this assignment, we had to take 40 - 50 pictures of a subject. After finding the subject, we took the pictures and then chose the best one for our blog. I chose to take pictures of shadows & light, and ended up with some cool images. Here is the best photo: (no editing was done) Here are my 5 other photos: In this assignment, I learned that you have to plan ahead until you get the perfect picture and it takes a lot of time until you get the right picture.
In this assignment, we had to do two certain photoshop assignments that were easy, and then after we finished that, we could choose a couple that we wanted to do by ourselves. I did three extras. Here are the first two with the original photos: Original: Edited: Here are the ones I chose to do: Links: #1- www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/photo-blend/ #2- www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/photoshop-weather-effects-rain/ #3- www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/painted-edges-photo-border-cs6/ In this assignment, I learned that you can paint over a white background to reveal a image. Also, I learned that adding rain to a photo is hard because you have to have the right amount of contrast between the rain and the background. Overall I think this was a challenging yet fun Photoshop assignment.
